Framed art prints

Every art print can be ordered unframed or ready to hang in a black metal frame: a slim black aluminium frame with acrylic glazing, made to the size of the print, with no mount. Screen prints are sold unframed.

How to frame a print

  • Choose a frame with glass or acrylic and a backing board; the print sits flat behind it with no glue or tape on the picture.
  • A mount (the card border inside the frame) makes a print look finished and keeps the glass off the ink. Allow 5–8 cm of mount on each side and go up one frame size.
  • Hang it out of direct sunlight. No paper likes a south-facing window all day.
  • Screen prints arrive rolled in a tube or flat in a box. If yours arrives rolled, leave it under a few books overnight and it will lie flat for framing.
  • Art prints are sent straight from the printer; framed ones arrive ready to hang.

Which size for which wall?

  • Above a sofa or bed: A2 or 50 × 70 cm, hung with the centre about 145 cm from the floor.
  • A narrow wall or hallway: A3 or 30 × 40 cm.
  • A child's room: 38 × 28 cm, A3 or 30 × 40 cm, hung lower so they can see it.
  • A group: three A4 or 13 × 18 cm prints in matching frames, 5 cm apart.
